Using Recommendations in Reading Coach to Support Student Progress
This article explains how recommendations in Reading Coach are generated based on student performance, providing teachers with timely, data-driven opportunities to guide student learning through targeted assignments and personalized instruction.

A Tool for Targeted Support

Recommendations are generated based on specific triggers in Reading Coach and are active until the teacher adopts or dismisses them. The recommendations provide opportunities for teachers to intervene in the student's learning path with additional assignments and classroom instruction. The recommendations are:

  1. Reinforce Principle: When students master a lesson in phonics, the teacher will receive a recommendation to assign a decodable book aligned with the concept. Students with the same recommendation will be grouped on the same list.
  2. Instructional Support: If students are identified as "struggling" with a phonemic awareness, phonics, grammar, or comprehension lesson, the teacher will receive a recommendation to provide in-class, small-group instruction with a corresponding support sheet. Students with the same recommendation will be grouped on the same list.

Teachers can filter by individual student or view students collectively to identify common instructional needs and provide targeted support.
