What is the District-Managed Library?
This setting in the Personalized Library allows administrators and program managers to start with an empty classroom library and fill it with selected books to share with their students. These selections will be implemented in both Free Reading and Power Text modes for the students in all classrooms in the district.
How will this affect Lexile® Scores?
Since the district’s selections determine each student’s personalized library, the district is responsible for monitoring class Lexile® scores with each 15-day update (on the 15th and 30th/31st of each month). The classroom library should include books ranging from 200L below the lowest to 200L above the highest class Lexile® score to maintain books within each student’s Zone of Proximal Development, also known as Power Text Mode. The Class Growth widget can be used to track students' Lexile® progress. Failing to continually populate the library with books within the class Lexile® range will negatively impact Lexile® growth over time, limiting the books students can access during Power Text mode.
How often should a district add books to their Classroom Library?
Every 15 days (on the 15th and 30th/31st) to align with the Lexile® updates from MetaMetrics, ensuring the library reflects the changing Lexile® ranges of the classroom.
