Activity Completion and Usage Tracking in Coach
For students to receive credit for their work, it is important to understand how activity completion and usage tracking function within the program. A timer showing thirty minutes does not guarantee thirty minutes of recorded usage; only completed activities are counted.
To ensure activities are completed and usage is recorded, students must work through the program and click Next to receive credit for their work. Certain activities only record usage once the entire activity is finished. If a student exits the program before completing these activities, their progress will not be saved, and the activity will restart during their next login. However, most activities that involve answering questions will save progress after each answer attempt, ensuring partial credit for completed portions.
Coach Activities That Don’t Count Toward Usage
Certain actions in the program do not contribute to recorded usage time.
Inactive Pages: Sitting on the Achievement page
Customization Tasks: Choosing an avatar or background
Incomplete Activities: If students exit a story or activity before finishing, their work will not be credited, and they will need to repeat the activity during their next session.
Example: A student listens to the instructions for a lesson and completes an activity after 20 minutes of usage. They will get credit for that 20 minutes. The student then spends another 10 minutes working on an activity but does not answer any questions before logging off for the day or clicking the Next button. The Usage Report will only reflect 20 minutes of usage, even though they were logged in for 30 minutes. Selecting the Next button or answering questions in the activity will allow time to be counted.
Improper Logoffs: Exiting MindPlay using the browser’s Back button stops usage tracking immediately. If students do not log out, they will automatically be logged out after twenty minutes, and only the time for the last completed activity will be calculated.
Minutes Read Calculation in Personalized Library
Students earn usage time by reading books! When students turn a page, their reading activity is automatically tracked and converted into usage time.
Minutes That Don’t Count Toward Usage
Students accumulate usage time when actively reading a book. Browsing the library does not count toward usage time. Teachers should encourage students to select a book and fully engage with it.
