MindPlay’s Dyslexia Screener
This article offers a comprehensive overview of MindPlay's Dyslexia Screener, explaining how the tool works and the skills it assesses.

Overview

The MindPlay Dyslexia Screener provides teachers and administrators with information on kindergarten to third-grade students who may be at risk for dyslexia. It supports educators and parents by ensuring timely and accurate identification, enabling earlier interventions and more effective student support.

What assessments are included?

How is the at-risk indicator determined?

The at-risk indicator is based on the student's performance on grade-level assessments. The categories are as follows:

At Risk: Critical in all 4 areas

Some Risk: Critical in 3 areas

No Risk: Critical in 0-2 areas

What reports are available?

Student Report

The student report includes two key graphs: the first shows an at-risk indicator, while the second presents detailed results for each subtest the student completed. These visuals provide a clear, data-driven overview of the student's performance and areas of concern.

What are the individual assessment goals?

The Dyslexia Screener intends to provide teachers and administrators with information on students who may be at risk for dyslexia. Students who score at risk should be provided with interventions to monitor progress. If concerns for the student prevail, further evaluation by a certified psychologist is recommended. Only an accredited evaluator may diagnose a student with dyslexia, as there are other factors to consider when making this diagnosis. The MindPlay Dyslexia Screener provides teachers and administrators with the necessary information to plan student interventions.
