Assessment Breakdown: What’s Included?
Universal Screener
The Universal Screener is a benchmark assessment typically administered at specific times, such as the beginning of the school year or the start of a benchmark period. It establishes a baseline measure of a student's knowledge and skills.
Progress Monitoring
The progress monitoring assessment is conducted regularly throughout the academic year, often at prescribed intervals (commonly every 14 days). It tracks a student's learning progress, providing ongoing data to help educators understand how students advance in their skills and where additional support may be needed.
Dyslexia Screener
The MindPlay Dyslexia Screener identifies students who exhibit characteristics or early signs associated with dyslexia, a specific learning disability that affects reading and spelling skills. Being at risk for dyslexia does not confirm a diagnosis but suggests that the student may need additional support and assessment to address potential challenges with reading.
Oral Reading Fluency (ORF)
Oral reading fluency, which requires students to read aloud with speed, accuracy, and expression, can be challenging to assess in a classroom due to the time it takes and the potential stress on students. MindPlay’s Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) Assessment simplifies this process by offering an efficient, low-pressure evaluation that benefits both teachers and learners. Designed as a benchmark tool, the ORF assessment is administered three times per year—fall, winter, and spring—to establish baseline data, track progress, and measure the effectiveness of instruction throughout the school year.
