Configuring Google SSO for Student Login
This article provides instructions for our partners to enable Google Single Sign-On (SSO) for student logins in MindPlay Studio. This streamlines the login process and enhances security.
Configuring Google SSO for students is quick and easy. Keep in mind that Google SSO is for sign-in only, MindPlay Studio does not currently support Google Classroom for rostering.
Crucial Step: For Google SSO to function correctly, each student's MindPlay Studio profile must have a valid email address that matches their Google account. You can set each student’s email in the student edit view in the rostering section.
- Log in to MindPlay Studio with your administrator or teacher credentials.
- Navigate to the "Roster" section.
- Locate the student whose profile you need to edit.
- Click on the pencil icon to open their profile details.
- Enter the student's Google email address in the "Email" field.
- Save the changes.
Bulk Update Options: If you need help updating your student email addresses in bulk, contact MindPlay Support.
Once your student email addresses have been updated, students can log in as follows:
- Navigate to the MindPlay Studio login page.
- Click the "Sign in with Google" button.
- Students will be prompted to select their Google account.
- After selecting their account and granting necessary permissions, students will be automatically logged in to MindPlay Studio.
Important Considerations:
- Email Address Accuracy: Ensure that the email addresses entered in MindPlay Studio exactly match the students' Google email addresses. Any discrepancies will prevent successful login.
- Google Permissions: Students may need to grant MindPlay Studio permission to access their Google account information.
- Troubleshooting: If students encounter issues logging in, verify their email address in MindPlay Studio and ensure they are selecting the correct Google account. If issues persist, contact MindPlay Support.
- Communication to Students: Inform students about the new login method and provide clear instructions.
